AglaCareer is built on one principle — seedha baat (straight talk). That applies to career guidance, and it applies to how we handle your data too. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

1. Who We Are

AglaCareer is a product of AGDevLab, an independent software studio. The site provides free career guidance for Indian graduation students. When this policy says "we", "us", or "AglaCareer", it means AGDevLab and the AglaCareer platform.

2. What Data We Collect

We only collect data that helps us improve your experience. Here's a plain-language breakdown:

Account Registration

When you create an account: your name, email address, and password (hashed — we never store it in plain text). Optionally, you may provide your graduation year, state, and career goal to personalise your experience. None of these optional fields are required.

Career Quiz

If you take our career quiz, we store your answers and an AI-generated career recommendation summary. The quiz can be taken without an account; in that case, results are linked to your browser session only. If you are logged in, results are saved to your account.

Exam Subscriptions

If you subscribe to exam notifications, we store your email address and your notification preferences (exam notification, admit card, result). You do not need an account to subscribe — an email address is sufficient.

Saved Roadmaps

Logged-in users can save career paths. We store which streams and career paths you've saved, along with any personal notes you choose to add.

Social Login

If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g. Google), we receive your name and email from that provider and store an access token to maintain the connection. We do not receive or store your social media passwords.

Session & Technical Data

Like all web servers, ours receives your IP address and browser user agent with every request. We use this for security (detecting unusual login activity) and aggregate analytics only — we do not build individual profiles from it.

3. How We Use Your Data

To run the platform: Authenticate your account, save your career roadmaps, and send exam notifications you subscribed to.
To personalise content: If you share your graduation year, state, or career goal, we use this to surface more relevant career paths and exam suggestions.
To improve our content: Aggregate analytics (e.g. which stream pages are most visited) tell us where to focus our research and writing efforts.
For security: IP and session data help detect and block suspicious login attempts.
We do not sell your data. We do not share personal data with third parties except as described in sections 4 and 7 below.

4. Affiliate Links & Third-Party Tracking

Affiliate disclosure: Course "Enroll" buttons on stream pages are affiliate links. When you click one and make a purchase, we earn a small commission (typically 5–8%) from the course platform — at no extra cost to you. This is how AglaCareer sustains itself while staying free.

When you click an affiliate link, you are redirected to the course platform (Coursera, Udemy, upGrad, Simplilearn, or Unacademy). These platforms set their own cookies and track purchases to credit our commission. Their privacy policies govern what they collect after you land on their sites — we have no visibility or control over it.

5. AI-Generated Content

AglaCareer uses AI in two ways:

Career Quiz recommendations: When you complete the career quiz, your answers are processed by an AI model to generate a personalised career summary and stream recommendations. This summary is stored in your account (or session). It is a starting point for exploration — not a professional career counselling assessment.
Content assistance: Some career guides, salary summaries, and FAQ answers on this site are AI-assisted drafts that have been reviewed and edited by our team before publishing. Salary figures and exam data are verified against sources such as AmbitionBox, Glassdoor, Naukri, and official government notifications.

We are committed to labelling AI-assisted content transparently — consistent with our seedha baat philosophy.

6. Cookies & Analytics

We use the following cookies:

Session cookie: Keeps you logged in during a browser session. Expires when you close the browser or explicitly log out.
Remember-me cookie: If you check "Remember me" on login, a persistent cookie keeps you logged in for up to 30 days.
Analytics cookies (planned): We plan to add Google Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic. When enabled, Google Analytics will set its own cookies. You will be informed and given a choice when this is activated.

We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we enable Google AdSense in the future, we will update this policy and provide opt-out options.

7. Third-Party Services

The following third-party services may process data when you use AglaCareer:

Coursera, Udemy, upGrad, Simplilearn, Unacademy: Affiliate platforms — their privacy policies apply after you click through.
Google (Social Login): If you sign in with Google.
Transactional email provider: Used to send email verification and exam notification emails on our behalf.

We select third-party services carefully and only share the minimum data needed for them to perform their function.

8. Your Rights

You can, at any time:

Access your data: See what personal data we hold about you.
Correct your data: Update your name, email, graduation year, state, or career goal from your account settings.
Delete your account: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
Unsubscribe: Remove yourself from exam notification emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email.
Disconnect social login: Remove OAuth connections from your security settings.

9. Data Retention

Account data: Kept until you delete your account. After deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days.
Exam subscriptions: Kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Quiz results (unauthenticated): Tied to your browser session and expire when the session ends.
Aggregate analytics: Page view counts and affiliate click counts are anonymous and retained indefinitely for product improvement.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes — particularly around new data collection or third-party integrations — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email.
